According to the content and function of each component, the chemical composition of refractory can be divided into two parts which are principal components and sub components.
1. Principal components: it is the component of refractory matrix in refractory products and is the basics of refractory material. Its nature and quantity directly determine the characteristic of products. Its main composition can be oxide and can also be an element or a non oxide compound.According to the chemical property of the principal components, refractory can be classified to acidic refractory, neutral refractory, and alkaline refractory.
2. Impurity components: there are a certain amount of impurities in refractory materials or raw materials.
3. Adding components: mineralization agent, stabilizer, and sintering agent, etc.
Mineral composition
Refractory products are mineral components, and the property of the products is the comprehensive reflection of the mineral and the microstructure. Research and investigation are usually carried out from the following three aspects: heating phase change of raw materials; the phase change of the mutual reaction between the ingredients in manufacturing; phase change in the use of refractory materials.
